West Bay Community Centre

On the north shore of Manitoulin Island, the West Bay First Nation wanted to bring community functions together in a single building. The design compensates for a budget that permitted only a premanufactured shed by inserting a circular hall with dignified and ordered access to the auditorium, fitness centre, change rooms, kitchen, and offices. An applied front façade acts as a roadside billboard, proclaiming the Centre's activity.
