Tyendinaga Health Centre, Belleville

This community service centre for the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte provides medical/dental services for the Nation, together with a meeting and training room. U-shaped in plan, it embraces a raised common deck which gathers the sun and focuses on long views of Lake Ontario. The raised basement houses the Nation's police force and social services office. A mixture of mutually-reflecting wall and floor colours provides a glowing, safe therapeutic environment inside.
