“Forest Home” Sax Residence, Thornbury

The success of this home makes it virtually impossible to photograph. A kitschy chalet-style cottage had become too small for a growing family and was stylistically tired. The owners wanted additional children's bedrooms and a new two-storey living hall drawn right into the surrounding forest. A new screened porch, a series of dormer roofs and new board and batten siding completed the refreshed ensemble. But: you can't see the house for the trees.
