“Bayside Home” Schroeder Residence, Meaford

This retreat for a Detroit family replaces a rundown cottage with a full-season home. Long views of Georgian Bay and the nearby Niagara Escarpment are captured by raising the living floor to the top level, with bedrooms below. The house uses three colours of siding to break down its visual mass, and incorporates nautical details in response to its shore location.
